In no particular order:
John McCain: I’m getting really tired of the “vote for me I’m a war hero” bit. I mean, REALLY tired. His “for patriotism, not for profit” line is maybe the most shameful thing I’ve ever heard a Republican front-runner say, and he likes to repeat it. This is one of the reasons I despised John Kerry so much. If veterans are going to draw a line between those who have and haven’t served in the military and say that we should make our voting preferences for people on one side of the line, well, as part of the vast majority that hasn’t served in the military, I know which side I’m choosing.
Mitt Romney: He refused to run for reelection because he might lose. Was he a good governor, or wasn’t he? I have no clue because Romney didn’t have the guts to face his constituents for reelection. Why I should trust him with my party’s nomination is an open question: If he doesn’t have enough faith in his electoral chances to run for reelection, what basis do I have for trusting with not getting trounced in November?
Mike Huckabee: He’s like John Edwards, but without the pretty hair. If we’re going to have a populist as president, he should at least have pretty hair.
Hillary Clinton: Do I really have to explain this one?
Barack Obama: As Newt said, he would easily be the most left-wing nominee since George McGovern. Except he doesn’t have McGovern’s experience. The guy writes an autobiography at age 24 and runs for president after holding office for less than 4 years? I don’t want a president who thinks he’s that special.
So who should I support? Ron Paul? He’s insane. Come back, Fred, come back…
