I've resisted gay marriage (even though I have two sisters who are gay), but I now think I may have been looking at it the wrong way. I'm of Irish and German ancestry, which pretty much guarantees stubbornness. I think the problem that I've been having with gay marriage may have less to do with the act than with the fact that someone was trying to force it on me. I instinctively resist things forced on me.
