I read this story mostly to giggle at the notion that the unemployment rate won’t be a factor in next year’s election. But then I learned that that was only the second most giggle-worthy statement in the story, finishing well behind:
“Ronald Reagan, another president Obama is sometimes compared with …”
What makes that line especially amusing is that it comes from the journalist writing the story, not an Obama operative.

Why is that funny? Conservatives have spent the last two years comparing Obama to Reagan pretty much non-stop.
Well you can compare any two things. In the context of the story, it reads as though Obama is commonly compared to Reagan because they’re similar. I believe the correct word would have been “contrasted.”
Also, conservatives have spent the last two decades comparing pretty much everyone to Reagan pretty much non-stop.
